Volunteering Opportunities at TAGEERO:
Many people from black, minority, ethnic and refugee groups (BMER) experience isolation within the community as a whole but also with in their own community groups. This isolation can be greatly increased when the person is experiencing mental health distress. A recent study by Refugee Action found that 50% of refugee women were clinically depressed at any one time compared to the national average of 25%.
What is Volunteering opportunity?
This is a part of our Outreach project funded by City Bridge Trust to Somali people through volunteering in the community to increase awareness of mental health issues, decrease isolation and break down barriers for people experiencing mental health distress living in the very cultural diverse London Borough of Hillingdon.
