This service is part of Hillingdon Council’s Social Inclusion Programme to provide a range of services within the borough to increase the access to generic mental health and other services for BME communities in Hillingdon including refugee and asylum seekers.
Activities:
The project runs a number of drop-in surgeries and offers a service through office.
- Mead House: Group sessions once a month for with Health Professionals about depression and anxiety.
- Referrals: referrals will from Gp’s, Mead House (other mental health Community Centres)
- Information and advice will be provided to all services users about mental health services available locally, treatment, benefit, welfare and other services available to improve access.
- Advocacy will be provided to facilitate access to services
- To raise awareness of the needs of refugee people with health and social problems so as to identify gaps in service delivery and to be involved in the planning, development and delivery of new services.

- Accessing information about counselling and other support groups etc.
- Benefit and Housing problems
- Drafting letters
- Accessing information e.g. about education and employment opportunities
- Voicing your opinion and Support with meetings with other professionals and agencies within the community ie your GP, Housing, Benefit Agency, and other services and voluntary groups
- Take part social activities in the community
